Oh, JP, so seldom are we on the forum the same time. John Denver, it takes me back to the years of yesteryear. I love this dude, Rocky Mountain High.......that is where I be headin', one fine day.....Spring is just around that corner, I heard the Black-capped chickadee, it is so snowbound here, but still, that dude shrills his song. He beat the Varied Thrush this year. Beautiful day in this wonderful life, love....health. Cindi

Cindi:
John Denver died living his dream, to soar like the Eagle. He was a pilot of a small Ultralight experimental airplane when something happened and it crashed into the water killing him. He flew like the Eagle, what more could John Denver want out of life, I think he was a truly honest and kind person and those who knew and loved his music, he was loved like family.
I remember him saying flying such a small plane was just him and wings, such as sad but poetic ending to a great singer who was as unique a voice as any ever.
I was a great fan in my teens, and one song (not sure now of the exact title and getting ready to go to work and no time to look it up) but something like "Wake up Johnny/ Jimmy Newman" a Vietnam Soldier trying to awaken his in battle field friend who obviously was killed by gun fire over night during sleep. Being 14-15 years old and the Viet Nam war seemingly my next venture in life, it really spoke to me.
If anyone can find this song/video please post it here.
So John Denver died young, but he did so fullfilling his dream to fly like an Eagle - may we all go completing one thing we really seek in life. It was strange, he was seeing Gurus (even the Mahareshi I think) to help him regain the high notes that he was losing, which we all knew set him so apart from anyone else. He felt what had made him special slipping away, and just wanted to be himself again, a remarkable singer indeed.
I saw a Public TV Show which showed boulders in a seemingly random pattern with the title and lyrics of all his songs engraved into them in large print - I think this was his final resting spot - if not, it surely could have been, it was inspiring.

Can't find it. Got more info on the song? Here is one from Don McLean about WWI called "The Grave"
This one is really sad, "Empty Chairs"
Then the one about the painter, "Vincent"
And then let's get back to a happier note cause, "Everybody Loves me Baby"

Annette, Sailing, one of my favourites too, I love Christopher Cross.......by the way, you look BEAUTIFUL in your beautiful blue hat, it matches your beautiful blue top, to go along with a beautiful you, that is not blue, the beautiful blue skies, the beautiful blue ocean, lovely. Something that would have been a wonderful thing to do, to learn to sail a beautiful, blue boat, smiling, !!! C.
