Kid Gets Santa Wish As Molester Arrested

Police in Texas say they arrested a man whose alleged molestation of a 9-year-old girl was described in her letter to Santa Claus.
The (McAllen, Texas) Monitor said Tuesday Andres Enrique Cantu, 55, Pharr, was picked up after a counselor at the child's elementary school discovered the letter in which the girl wished the alleged abuse would stop.

The Monitor said a complaint filed by police said the counselor told investigators, "The student had turned in a wish list to Santa wishing for her (relative) to stop touching her and her sister."

Police declined to say what Cantu's relation to the girl was, but contended the alleged abuse had occurred over a period of years while other family members were asleep.

Cantu was arrested last Friday on charges of continued sexual abuse of a young child and faces 25- to 99 years in prison if convicted.
