I think there will be two distinct groups of people coming out of this in the future.
1)This group are those that have always woke every morning, doing the best they can, pick themselves up, bend with the changing times, know how to provide for their families, etc. This group will no doubt see changes, some good and some bad. Nothing in politics happens overnight, and much of what obama has promised will not come true. Their lives will not be ruined if all the promises are not filled.
2)This group, has pinned their happiness, their hopes and dreams, and their ability to do anything in life, to who puts their butt in a seat in the white house. This includes the women who last week upon leaving a obama rally stated along the lines "I can not believe this is happening, and never thought it would happen in my lifetime. I'll never have to worry about filling my gas tank again, I'll never have to worry about putting food on the table. Obama said if we stand by him, he'll stand by us!"
Want to take a guess who will be devastated more? In my opinion, it is certainly the group who has pinned their whole existence and happiness on the ability of the government to hand it too them, by taking it away from others.
My family will endure 4 or 8 years of obama. We will see the pendulum swing many times back and forth over our lifetimes, between parties that make a thousand promises. We will bend, change slowly as governments do, will wake the next day after obama takes office and will be changed little as we will no doubt still be providing for each other the best way we can.
My father-in-law who was from Denmark (socialist country), often said that people crave what the left offers them. But as taxes go up and they never are fully given what is promised, they then will swing back to a conservative vote. Problem is...taxes that previously went up on all the promises never go down. So they see the conservatives as nothing better than the left who raised the taxes, and eventually are swayed back by more promises from the left as the conservatives just don't make as many good looking promises. And so the cycle repeats itself, with only really one group being fooled...the people themselves.
The people here in this country will continue down this same road. Some things will be good and some bad. But the people who are dependant on happiness, handouts, and look to the government for everything they promised, will be the biggest losers and fools in the long run.
And so it begins.......
