I hate the Christmas season...............bah humbug!!!!!

Lots of people spending lots of money that they don't have just to give someone a gift that they really don't need or want.

And.......property taxes are due on December 20th.

Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus if I'm right. I guess the presents have something to do with the three wise men. I to don't care for this time of year when I was four my dad left just before Christmas and three years ago mom died on the 3rd of December. But I still enjoy Christmas with the wife and kid's and grandkids. And it's the only time of year I hear from my two sister's because want something.

Jody, you know JP, he is that King of the Brats and is so incorrigible he can never be tamed!!!  Don't even try to get him to behave as he should.  You should read some of the posts that he spoke so long ago of, when he was a youngster, brat, right from the get go!!!  Love ya, JP!!!  Have that most wonderful and awesome day, love this great life and groove!!!  Cindi

Christmas is a wonderful holiday if things are kept in perspective. I see people and family trying to keep up with the Joneses wayyyyyyy too much, spending money they don't have to impress others or something like that.

I like to keep things simple. I like Christmas when its cold, the colder the better and if it snows, even better!!! I get the chance then to make snowbombs and throw them at Jody and Cindi's house!!!!!

 Thanx JP!
She was Beeyoooteefulll!!!! (and cute too!)
Yep, Christmas is all about money to some people. I say every year that "Next year I dont wanna do gifts" but it happens anyways. I dont like the crowds, and everybody whining about this not being in stock, and why the store doesnt have more of these... And Then there are the kids who whine because they didnt get enough stuff. In my opinion, we( at least for me) if I want something, I go out and get it( within reason, you know, like a tool or wood or nails or stuff like that). For my son,...well,...if he wants it, he gets it...No waiting for anything in his life. Instant gratification.
But, as a bunch of you remember, as far as stuff goes, Christmas was the time to hope and wait for something you've wanted for a long time. And, of course, after Christmas day was over, it was over...
It was a long time before I realized that Christmas was about thanking God for Jesus being born. And This aspect of Christmas is sooo hard to focus on with all the material and worldly attractions going on all around you, Theres tons of people who hate Christmas, mostly because of how its been twisted and mangled to the shape we wanted it to be. Its become ,well, kinda "Bizarre"...Nothing at all like a baby being born out in a cave or barn, who would grow up to give his life up for me and everybody else(Well, that is, if you believe this, like me).
Ok,....I better get off the saopbox before i fall off.
Keep the faith, you guys...Try to make the best of it even though the truth has been coated in candy and sparkles. That all wears away, but the truth of Christmas is still there. Underneath all the glitter there is still a spirit that doesnt want to be forgotten.
  Amen.

john

That was beautiful John!  The last few years we have tried to focus on the reason we have Christmas & cut back on the commercial side.  For years I hated the season, now it's getting better.  Last year we sponsored a child overseas so it's a commitment for years to come.  Chelsea has all the crap a kid could want from her Mom & appreciates the time & emotional support she gets from us.  Christmas eve is candelight service @ Church, then to close friends for snax. I love Christmas morning now that the kids are grown. Sleep in till 630 or 7...put the sticky buns in the oven & wait for the smell to prod Chelsea from sleep! Amanda wanders over mid day, I have Starbucks Christmas blend coffee & kids have the ice cream hot buttered rum batter (w/o rum!) Then we all go to my Brothers for dinner & rum in the batter mix!  The one thing we did keep is the stockings.  I stash treasures found in my travels all year long to fill them with. The girls like the surprise of small things (last year I found Monkey Butt anti itch powder..)& Chels the idea that we are thinking of her even when she is away from us. J

Irwin, you can & will do for children what you couldn't do for yourself..The wonder they have will bring you smiles & replace the sad memories with warm ones, different but good all the same!  You are lucky to have them there to teach you, kid hugs & snuggles chase away the blues!  J
