Hey melilem! Theres a pretty good book I read recently called "The Shack". I wish my wife would read it but thats not gonna happen. Anyways, there are all kinds of answers to questions which are posed towards why God lets things happen to Godly people, and stuff like that. keep in mind though that its fiction....But if God can speak through a donkey, why not a book?(Other than the bible). Well, there ya go.....

About the money,

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081019/ap_on_el_pr/obama_money

Obama raises stunning $150 million in September
By JIM KUHNHENN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama raised more than $150 million in September, a stunning and unprecedented eruption of political giving that has given him a wide spending advantage over rival John McCain.

The campaign released the figure on Sunday, one day before it must file a detailed report of its monthly finances with the Federal Election Commission.

Obama's money is fueling a vast campaign operation in an expanding field of competitive states. It also has underwritten a wave of both national and targeted video advertising unseen before in a presidential contest.

Campaign manager David Plouffe, in an e-mail to supporters Sunday morning, said the campaign had added 632,000 new donors in September, for a total of 3.1 million contributors to the campaign. He said the average donation was $86.

The Democratic National Committee, moments later, announced that it raised $49.9 million and had $27.5 million in the bank at the start of October. The party has been raising money through joint fundraising events with Obama and can use the money to assist his candidacy.

Obama's numbers are possible because he opted out of the public financing system for the fall campaign. McCain, the Republican nominee, chose to participate in the system, which limits him to $84 million for the September-October stretch before the election.

Obama's monthly figure pushed his total fundraising to $605 million. No presidential candidate has ever run such an expensive campaign. His campaign raised $65 million in August, his previous best.

"The overall numbers obviously are impressive," Plouffe said in a campaign video. "But it's what's beneath the numbers in terms of average Americans who have had enough, who want a change and who are really fueling this campaign."

Obama had initially promised to accept public financing if McCain did, but changed his mind after setting primary fundraising records. His extraordinary fundraising is bound to set a new standard in politics that could doom the taxpayer-paid system. Many Republicans have begun to second-guess McCain's decision to participate in the program.

With his money, and a favorable political wind at his back, Obama has secured his foothold in states that have voted for Democratic presidential candidates in the past. But he has also been able to expand the contest to reliably Republican states, forcing McCain and the Republican Party to spend their money defensively.

Plouffe pointed out that the campaign is now spending resources in West Virginia. Obama running mate Joe Biden was scheduled to campaign in Charleston, W.Va., on Friday and the campaign has secured television advertising in the state for the next two weeks, according to ad data obtained by The Associated Press. Plouffe hinted at further expansion, noting that public opinion polls show the race tightening in Georgia and North Dakota.

As much as Obama raised, he needed a big fundraising month to justify his decision to bypass the public finance system. Financially, he has been competing not only against McCain, but against the GOP, which raised $66 million in September.

The combined Obama and DNC totals for September now give the Democrats a distinct financial advantage going into Election Day, just 16 days away.

CP came out for obama today.  his reason?  palin isn't experienced enough!  never mind who you are planning to vote for....the palin experience argument is ridiculous.

obama, biden, and mc cain are senators.  they have absolutely no leadership experience.  they have consensus building experience.  just what you don't want in a leader!  obama has less time in government than palin and all of her involvement has been in leadership positions.

what is the real complaint against palin?  she is a conservative woman.  the is the inti-woman to the feminist movement.  she is the anti-obama to the liberals.  can you imagine the upset if the first woman to be president were a conservative?  the left has claimed to be champion of women and minorities.  in fact, they are champions of women and minorities who toe the liberal line.  look what happens to conservative blacks!  a little clarence thomas, anyone??

conservative women are thrilled with palin, but unlike liberals, we are not thrilled that a woman was picked as the VP running mate.  we are thrilled that a competent, conservative woman was picked.

suck it up libs smiley.  if you want to see successful women and minorities chosen on merit and not agenda, look to the conservatives.

Nope...it's that her "leadership experience" is in a state with fewer people than the big cities in the country. That doesn't count for much. Who had even heard of her before McCain picked her? The 500,000 people in Alaska.

Obama went to Harvard Law School. I guess education doesn't count for much, because it took Palin 5 schools to finally come out with a Bachelor's degree.

IMHO, anyone who has claimed that she's seen human footprints in dinosaur tracks doesn't belong in a leadership position in this country.

My bet is George Soros for Secretary of State, Jessie Jackson for Defense Secretary, Al Sharpton for Attorney General (There is no requirement for the AG to be an attorney) and more of the ilk.  The only saving grace I see is Mom's Mobley for HUD Secretary.

No offense, but if you think this is the case, you haven't listened to a single thing Obama has said in his campaign, or dismissed anything that hasn't agreed with your viewpoint.

I don't think Obama is a "black man with an agenda to promote black leaders." If you think he's going to pick black people just because they're black, you might want to take a look at your feelings about race.

Actually, considering how the US government was designed, consensus building is one of the best skills to have! We don't have a monarch, we don't have a supreme leader. Our government was DESIGNED to REQUIRE consensus, because our founding fathers knew that power is too easily misused. Look at what the Republicans handed over to Bush earlier in this decade (on party principle) and the mess we're in now to see what a lack of consensus building does. If you think our country is going the best way it can, well...I wish I were in your shoes!

i believe she said she had seen pictures of footprints and dinosaur tracks.  as i recall, they are in TX.  maybe someone knows.  a lot of conservatives knew about her.  even if she had been governor of a state of 10 people, she still would have more executive experience than the other 3.  obama has none.  nice that he got a good education.  has nothing to do with his ability to lead.  BC would be a good example of someone with a good education and poor leadership skills.  even better, Carter.

when did george soros turn black??  the list refers more to extreme libs, than race, but libs seem to want to see race in everything.

a good leader listens to advice, gathers knowledge, converses with other leader....but in the end, a good leader must make decisions.  some of those decisions will not be popular.
a consensus builder does the above, but then compromises to get a solution that all agree on.

obama is not running against bush.

you show the typical emotional response to this discussion.  it is not fact based.  when you want to have a fact based conversation, i'll be happy to engage you again.

oh ya....i have listened to what he has said.  i dismiss it because it is not only something i disagree with, but something any american with any knowledge of history or our government should disagree with.

I was tired last night and should have waited until this morning to write, so I was overly emotional, and I sincerely apologize.

And in truth, I usually don't bother to get involved in these kinds of discussions, because I really think that there's no point...no one is going to change their minds based on a discussion here, regardless of how dazzling and fact-based their opponent's argument may be, right?

 Hey!
I KNOW about human footprints in dinosaur tracks!
My friend, Tex( well was a friend till he moved in over here...then we moved him out...well, He's still a friend I suppose, I just wouldnt let him move back in as he turned into a freeloader) Was a palientologist(Dinosaur hunter)...Ohhh, he was good at it too..For two years he sifted through buckets and buckets of dirt and put together a Dimetridon( Sailfin dinosaur) and sold it for 165,000$..he bailed out a "Rich aunt" who the IRS was gonna bust, and his wife was mad that he didnt pay off the house. Then he found a cocaine connection and sniffed the rest of it. A year later he found another dimetridon but with out the head..He sold that for 85,000$ and snorted all that up. Tex was probably the greatest dinosaur hunter in America! He only had a 7th grade education on top of that! Then he fell apart.
At any rate, I asked him about the human footprints and he knew all about it( I was interested in this discovery because of the biblical timeframe)..he said both tracks were authentic, but after thorough study, the tracks were from different times..Although, both tracks were very old, The human track was just coincidentally imprinted in the same track as the dinosaur!
To me, this was a disappointment, but the scientific evidence showed the tracks to be from different times.
But,....We still have the issue of dragons and how true the facts are from legends! Smiley

What I can say is this: Looking at the Voting records of both Obama and Biden you can kiss the 2nd amendment goodbye if they get elected.  At least they'll try to emasculate it as much as they can.  Obama introduced legislation into the US Senate that would have required the US to sign onto the UN's humanitarian agenda that would make it a crime to own a weapon or use one for self-defence.

The UN's stand on guns is that it should be illlegal for anyone not a soldlier or police officer to own a gun or use one for any reason.
They state you have the right to defend yoursself, as long as you don't use a weapon to do it.

When the public is disarmed, only fear is left as they have no way to fight off the tyranny of those who would take by force.  Tyranny includes governments.  How many times has this happened in history and is happening even today...Africa is a good example.

T. Boone! T. Boone! burning bright,
In the natural gas firelight,
Why should Californians vote
For Prop Ten, which you underwrote?

Oilman extraordinaire,
T. Boone Pickens, billionaire,
Your gas stations fuel the class
Of cars that run on natural gas.

But most cars can't use your stuff.
At your stations, times are tough.
So you've ponied up three mil
To bloat our ballots with this bill.

Prop Ten will sell bonds galore,
Borrowing five billion for
Things bonds shouldn't fund one cent:
Car rebates, research, and rent.

If this wins, three billion bucks
Goes to those whose cars and trucks
Get high mileage, or use "Clean
Alternative Fuel" to go green.

Prius buyers each will get
Rebates of two grand, and yet,
With the price of gas today,
We all want one anyway.

One of Prop Ten's greatest scams
Rebates fifty thousand clams
For trucks T. Boone's pumps can fill,
But reduce pollution nil.

Relentless electioneer,
Funder of that Swift Boat smear,
Pickens wants our public dough
To make his corporate profits grow.

T. Boone! T. Boone! burning bright,
In the natural gas firelight,
We see through your scheming when
We vote down Proposition Ten.
