Cable pedestal bee removal article?
«
on:

There was a brief letter in the current issue of Bee Culture describing how Cox Cable has changed their practice of exterminating feral hives from their cable pedestals so now they have a contracted beek who removes them alive and relocates them.
Does anyone here know where I can get a copy or a link to that story?
Thanks
David (who is in the cable industry and would like to spread this news)

I couldn't find the Bee Culture story, but I found a few others:
Orange County Register article
Related OC-Register article
Light Reading Digital Cable News story
It's a great story. I hope that other cable operators or telcos would do the same thing.

David its weird you mention this. Last Thursday, a guy called me in Marrero, Louisiana about a swarm in a cox cable pedestal which I removed the next day, comissioned by cox cable. The guy that met me, Todd, had to bring a key so I could open the pedestal. Swarm of perhaps 2lb size if that. The one day I forget my camera.

Great work. As far as I can tell, Cox is the only one doing this. Next time, bring the local newspaper and get some good PR from it!

I believe the company they normally use sprays them. I got involved because the homeowner called 911 and dispatch called me.
I am now on the cable list.
