Jody, oh when I saw that you brought some pics for us to see, well....that just made my day.  I love your place, your critters are all beautiful, and it looks to me like you can grow an awful lot of stuff there!!!  Yeah!!!  When you said that you lived in a really rocky place, I pictured something very different, in my mind's eye, I kid you not!!!  The pigeon coop is especially lovely, nice job, and I can't wait to see the end result of the waterfall.

So...what happened to Lefty and Righty's eye?  Did they chew each other's eye out?  Just curious, you know me....bring on those pics!!!  Have that most wonderfully, awesome day, Cindi

Cindi, for the yard we covered the rocks w/18" of flume sand & 6"topsoil.  The lower pasture is sandier but on the hillside tons of huge rocks. The soil we do have is excellent, fast draining & can grow anything!  It used to be the White River bed thousands of years ago. I sometimes water the rhodies (1 or 2x) & other plants around the house & deck but not the lawn or pastures.  I havn't mown the lawn for 3 years as I want it to reseed & get the roots longer. When we put the new house on the fill was AWFUL clay icky dirt!  The breakdown of the old grass & leaves & selfseeding filled it all in.  The animals chew it down pretty well & fertilize! I will mow next year as it is thick enough now.
Lefty, Righty & Quasimoto were all born that way.  When I found Righty at my fish store I told em to be on the lookout for another.  Then I found Quasi, then Lefty.  I asked for a discount on all as they were "special".  Time will tell if it's genetics or freak stuff...I can imagine a bunch of eyeless misshapen Koi.. evil  Amanda calls it the Island of Jody Moreau!!
I do love my land, felt an attatchment to it the minute I stepped onto the property 25 years ago & had to have it. Lived here 3 years before marrying Amanda's dad in 85.  Lived with her here from 91-96 then I met Bruce.  I'll be here when he is gone too! evil rolleyes  Johnny, I don't do pics!  I'm the one taking them!  I too love to have peeks into others lives.  Always seem so much more interesting than mine!  Love to see how they live..I'm probably as nosy as Cindi, we do have so much in common!  Off to see Phantom at the Paramount Theatre with Amanda!  J.

Oh, Jody, how beautiful of a story....25 years, that is a long time.  I know, we have lived on our property for nigh 18 years now, moved here in 1990, June 30.  It was a very terribly run down place, that must have once upon a time been beautiful, on the part that was cleared.  But the people aged, no longer could take care of things.

I have worked my livin' butt off for all of these years, as has my Husband too.  We have done land clearing, land improvement, gardens galore, pool put in, greenhouses built, massive house renovations -- and that list is 18 years worth of hard work, doing something we both love -- and it has paid off.  We live in a place which I can equate only to a park in many ways, not trying to sound like bragging, not intended to be that way, but our property has become more beautiful and beautiful every year.  My gardens are worth their weight in gold.  With my Sister living with us, it has improved even more and more.  She is identical to me....and you.....I can only begin to imagine in my wildest dreams how you have worked to improve your land, and that you clearly and properly have done, beautiful, most beautiful, and I take my hat off to you, girl.  This work will keep you young in body and mind, you will age slowly.  This hard work that we do, can do nothing but improve us all as a human being, you know that....I know that.  Keep on keeping on girl!!!  Have the most wonderful day, and enjoy the Phantom, and yep, yep, I think you are just a little more nosey than I am, hee, hee, smiling..... Lips Sealed Wink Smiley Smiley Smiley  Cindi
