Just after 6:00 A.M. It is still mostly dark, but the grey dawn is beginning. The world is still mostly silent, except for the occasional car, and the gargoyle fountain down by my pool. This gargoyle fountain is pretty, it is on the southwestern corner of the pool deck, it has some red lights that shine upon it, these red lights also shine on the Basjoo banana grove, pretty, too bad I am not apt enough to take a night picture, that would be my Husband's area of expertise, but I wouldn't bother to ask him.....just go there in your mind's eye, and see where it can take you.
I am listening, yearning to hear something, anything, then I hear the rooster calls. We have 8 roosters that are coming to maturity and they are going to the food dude on Tuesday, along with some ducks and a couple of turkeys, ummmm, ummmm. I can detect our original rooster calls, they are strong, seasoned, beautiful. And then, I hear some kind of weird, kind of funky rooster calls, kind of a half rooster call, ones that have not learned how yet to raise their voice enough to actually sound like a rooster. Oh those poor dudes, how could they ever get a hen interested in something that just plain and simply sounds like they are sick, surely the hen would run the other way.
I listen more, there are not many birds these days making their calls, the robins have long left, they are the ones that make the most beautiful array of sounds, the trill of many birds are now silent, I think they have moved on too. I hear nothing, but that sound of the strange roosters in the chickenyard. This world is silent, for now, until soon, as all the children get up and ready for school, then that becomes noise, the noise of children rejuvenated after that night sleep, their energies to be released.... Have an awesome and most wonderful day, Cindi
