Well, we just got back evacuating for Gustav and Ike is rearing his ugly head, some say its going to Texas, some Florida, a few Louisiana.

Can't even catch my breath, you know they say Hurricanes are a way of the earth righting itself, achieving a balance from all things happening atmospherically as Earth things go, and we apparently, according to the experts are in a twenty yr stretch whereby major storms are anticipated, that's what they said right before Katrina.

Drama and more drama, never did care for soaps, got all the real life drama I can handle, at least during hurricane season.

Boy oh boy JP.  I can imagine how stressful this must be as I hate to leave my house where I am so cozy and secure. I truly hope this coming storm fizzles out somehow.

I hope your wife is coping ok with all of this since she had that surgery recently. Prayers are with you once again.

Sincerely
Annette

Thanks Annette, my wife is doing pretty well, she has some pain but overall thumbs up.

Yes, I was just preparing myself mentally for the upcoming work week and now there's extra junk in my head, mother nature definitely has the upper hand at the moment.

but around here we just need the 5"-20" of rain that come's with it. been so dry, I was hoping to get some from Hanna but that hag turns the sped up, just a small drizzle. we just need a tropical storm to sit over this area for a few days.

Problem Ted is that these dang things bring tornados with 'em, and lots of 'em!

Here's wishing you lots of rain w/o the tornados!

Looks like for now the consensus is that Ike is forecast for Texas or northern Mexico.

You can open this link: http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200809_5day.html#a_topad   and scroll down a short ways to view the projected path.

Man that thing is huge! So much for it going west. Now it looks like it might be a toss up, Florida or Louisiana? Either way it is not looking good.

It's still headed west enough to catch eastern TX... to me it looks like LA will get hit again.

It apparently made its more westward turn, WNW, we are now under tropical storm warning due to Ike's impressive size!!!

Check out this satelite imagery as of 4am: Scroll down some to view.

I wish the best to all our Texan friends on the Texas coast who will be affected by Ike, hopefully if you haven't evacuated yet, you are making plans to do so.

Ike is a very large storm and forecast to strengthen, tidal surges will be huge, hope it fizzles to a lesser storm but its just not looking that way.

My friends here in South West La are under a hurricane watch and here in Metairie we are under a tropical storm warning with heavy rains and windy conditions including some tornadic activity anticipated.

Best wishes, luck, and many prayers to all.

good luck to you JP. There's people in Texas preparing for the storm who hardly ever see a hurricane (Austin area).
