or thinking about catching  some swarms this coming season.

This is more than interesting.  We lost feral "northern bee" from Finland totally when varroa arrived. Now if we got varroa resistent bees, it is possible that they can survive in houses and city buildings etc. We do not have many hollow trunks big enough in Finland.
