I recently bought an ipod from the online apple store, and I don't like the earbuds that came with it. They don't fit into your ear canal. What's up with that? Anyway I ordered another pair that come with 3 different sizes of ear pieces. They shipped them from Hong Kong! These are small, less than 1 pound package, and they have to ship from Hong Kong? They don't have any here in one of the Apple stores, they can ship? Seems really silly to me.

The iPod uses a standard headphone jack and you could have bought any kind of headphone from Radio Shack, Walmart, KMart, pretty much anywhere and you wouldn't have to wait for something to ship from Hong Kong. The only reason people use the headphones that come with the iPod is that it's a fashion statement. Only the iPod has the white, excessively long headphones and it's a way for brand identification. I use over the head type headphones with my iPod cause they're a lot more comfortable than something stuck in my ear.

I never thought I'd use an iPod. I'm a little too old. But since I mow a large piece of property, I thought it would be nice to have one to listen to while mowing. I read somewhere that ipod takes a 2.5 mil size jack, and that most you can buy at the box stores are 3.5. That wouldn't surprise me at all, since I know that most Apple products are proprietary. (having had a mini mac) Headphones are in transit. I looked at regular headphone types, but cost was prohibitive at this time.

I bought the cheapest set from radio-shack, and they work just fine... I mean, apart from being horribly uncomfortable in my ear. I might try those that Frantz posted.
