The secret life of bees
«

Just finished reading a great book called "The secret life of bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. Every beekeeper should try and read this book. It is about a young girl who is trying to find the answers to her past, ends up running away from home and gets taken in by an eccentric trio of black beekeeping sisters. Takes place in South Carolina in 1964.
"The little girl is introduced to the mesmerizing world of bees and honey and more importantly, the tale is about what family really means and the strange and wondrous places we find love".(quote from the book)
I just enjoyed this story so much and all the wonderful references to beekeeping.
Take Care
Annette

I like doing cut-outs, but I love catching swarms!

has
to, I need to know what happens to Lily!
There's a movie coming out also
, I doubt it'll do it justice.

Yes, books are always better than the movie.

I read this last summer. Interesting book, definitely had a sad side. It was a good read, though. Some of the beekeeping descriptions seemed a little forced to me.

Just got that book from the library this weekend - about half way done, enjoying it so far. I lived in South Carolina going to university, so some of the descriptions bring back memories for me.
Last night the library called to let me know that the DVD of Ulee's Gold that I requested was available for pickup - couldn't find it at the local rental places.
