Hello everyone.  I am so new to beekeeping that I have my bees ordered and my hive assembled.  Sitting here twiddling my thumbs and waiting for the girls to arrive. My mother had 2 hives and I remember helping her while growing up.  Im so excited.  I know that I will have soooo many questions. Im very happy that I found this site. Thanks for the info in advance. Kelly, welcome to our forum, this will be the place that will be your leaning post, you can learn lots by reading, asking questions, and ask till the cows come home.  No question is ever considered to be an unimportant one, we were all once a beginner at the bees too, we all asked questions, hee, hee.

You are sitting twiddling your thumbs, I know that feeling, been there done that.  Before I got my package bees I took courses at my instructor's farm.  He ran 1,200 colonies and looking at his bees made my fingers and mind twitch, just waiting to get my own bees, I know your what you are feeling.  The day will come and then.....you will fall under that spell of the honeybee, you will be addicted, and, you know what, you ain't seen nuthin' yet. So welcome, you will make new friends here, this will be your home away from home, a friendly environment where we all help each other, and each one of us is very important.  Have this wonderful and beautiful day as yours, make it so.  Cindi

Kelly welcome and what Cindi said.  I just enjoy learning from other folks and this is the place.

Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

Hello and Welcome!

We've had a number of new members from Maine recently (marliah and SteveM, to mention a few of the latest). Glad you found us - this is a great place to learn about bees. I use the 'search' function a lot. Very often I find that my question has been asked before, and I can find an immediate answer. A very good thing if you're impatient, like me.

Are you connected with a local beekeeping club? I always recommend getting to know other the beekeepers in your area and finding a mentor.

We look forward to hearing about your adventures with bees!
