Removal from between 1st and 2nd floor.
« on: April 14, 2008, 12:34:01 AM »
Hey Folks,

Here is a removal I did Friday. This colony want about 4 foot into the floor joist tunnel. My arm wasn't quite long enough. I got it all but the last few layers were honey and were hard to get without crushing them. It was a mess at the end and quite a few bees drowned . I hate that! I've spared everyone the photos of the mess.

Yep, they get messy sometimes. Scott, I keep a couple of handles at dif lenghts so I can get into the recesses. These attach to my scrapers, and make life a lot easier. Great job!

JP...I agree about having different length handles. I need to come up with some sort of gadget for these types of removals. The thing that was difficult about this one was the divider between the joist. It was hard to get around especially with the limited space. My arm has bruises on it now from contorting it against the divider trying the get the stuff just in back of the divider.

Could you have cut the divider out? It was a cross brace? How did they get on the other side of it?

They went under it. It only went half way down. I don't like cutting more then I have to. As much as I love bees a persons house is their castle. I most likely wouldn't have hurt it but I just adapted and overcame.

Scott, you are up to some interesting stuff, you may catch up to JP and be called the Swarm King II.  Beautiful and wonderful day, Cindi

Hey Cindi,

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I'll never be JP. He is the man and all other men wish to be likened unto him!...... :-D

I kinda like the "Expert Bee Handler" Title Dallas and JP gave me. It's a hoot!

Thanks and have a blessed day!
