Hi Everyone,

I wanted to post these pictures for your feedback. I know your all are at a disadvantage because you can't see the job first hand but I wanted your ideas of the best way to remove this swarm. I think I can get it fall from the outside but I'm must not positive yet. I just don't want to take down the bookshelf. I have having to remove bees from inside houses although I have done it many times. It just make a mess. Looking forward to all your thoughts.

I think you'll do less damage coming from the outside.

The nice thing is you can remove those boards whole quite easily, due to the fireplace's location.

I agree. I hope that the bookcase is attached from the back only but I think is attached to the sides as well. I also think it is anchored into the mantle. I really don't want to mess with the inside if I don't have to. My concern is the amount of "bee droppings" that are on the shelves. I think they are behind the paneling.

Have you checked in the ceiling.  They love to get into the space between the rafters between the first and second floor of a two story structure since there is rarely any insulation there.  I have done many cutouts where the bees gain access to this area by going under the second floor siding where it meets the end of the first floor brick as depicted in your photos.

They're in the ceiling, between the ceiling joists. Don't fret young grasshopper, just go and remove them and take lots of pics!!!
