Update on my Mom

This morning's phone call was very different than what I expected.
The blood thinners are working against the clots
Her kidney failure is a serious kidney infection
She does have some congestive heart failure
She is coming home at the end of the week.
What a emotional roller coaster, but at least one with a happy result.
I'd like to thank you for your kind emails and show of support.
But I guess my Mom is a bit tougher than we thought.
My brother drove down yesterday from NY and spent the night at the hospital
He was the one who called me this morning with the good news
Wow
Thanks again for your concern and support
Roger

Rog,
My thoughts are with you. My father, too, had a long decline before he died, from heart disease, diabetes, and renal failure. It is hard on the family. I was 900 miles away for those last years, and while I didn't have the burden of primary care, I did use that time to make him as emotionally comfortable as I could. Towards the end, the phone was inadequate. No one knew he was about to go, but I guess I must have had ESP or something, because I left NY for Illinois early on a Saturday morning on an impulse, and was on the road when he died.
It's a hard thing.

I don't know what to say, except that I am very happy with this.
It seems like she's a little tougher then they thought.
What a rollercoaster. I appreciate your thoughts and those who pm'd me. Unbelieveable.
One good result is that My brother I and were forced to discuss somethings that needed talking about. We hadn't done this before, I think cause we didn't want to bring up the subject.
