I know some of us are more sentimental than others. In fact Charly McClain sings a song about me called "Sentimental Ol' You". So here is what I thought we might do. Share a song that brings tears to your eyes. NOW WAIT A MINUTE!!! I don't want endless lists of songs. Just name a song and tell us why it brings a tear to your eyes and possibly a link to the song like on youtube. Now these don't have to be sad songs, or tragic songs. Sometimes a song is just so well put together and sung just right that it is so beautiful and tugs at something down in side of you.  Here is an example,

This guy is telling the person he loves that it doesn't have to be anything special going on. No particular time of year. No special day or moment. It doesn't matter what he was doing, and there was no other reason for calling other than to let her know she is on his mind and he loves her. Reminds me of how I feel about my special someone. This song I dedicate to my wife.

Stevie Wonder - I just called to say I love you

"The Last Leviathon" By either Lori Anderson or Rory Block. I have the tape but its out in the shop....Its about the last great whale what gets harpooned..Its sounds like bagpipes throughout the song which makes it sound Irish or Celtic.
I want this played at my funeral.

Private reason, not private moment shocked

And a good version, but only an 8:43 version . Cant beat Dylan for lyrical power.

The Temptations "Have you seen her?" was the original version.

Don McLean  "American Pie"  Even those of us who never knew Buddy Holly moss him.

I can't find it on Youtube. Guess you should put it there.

Thanks, Jerrymac!  That's the one!  I could list so many more, but then, I get weepier as I age!  I really like "A Letter to Me" by Brad Paisley and was surprised it didn't get more air time.

You know, Don's voice is like warm honey!  Funny how you never heard much of any other song of his....guess American Pie was just too hard to top...for anyone really.  Madonna should have been shot for even trying!   Undecided

Don't get me started... Now I am going to have to post Don McLeans songs. Perhaps later.

You do know there are several people who have searched for the meaning of American pie. Here is a page that list a few.

annette, I haven't watched that whole video yet but I thought (heard) the jester was Jerry Lee Lewis, not Bob Dylan. Lewis started gaining power as the King was looking down. (Elvis being Drafted) I hope no

We'll have to start a whole other topic for this.

Don McLean's Vincent (Starry Starry Night) about Vincent Van Gogh. A tragedy. Do you understand what he was trying to say?

This one is easy (yet hard to find) cause it was live on radio.

Joe Walsh sing Despirado (sic?) live on the last day of Howard Stern's Earth Bound radio show. I had me in freakin' tears as it did Howard, who said it was the most moving moment of his 20+ years in radio.

If anyone finds this, please post a link or email it to me or something. I've tried and no luck so far.

I wasn't aware Joe Walshe sang that song. The band members squabble a lot and usually dont share their own songs. I thought Glenn Frye and Don Henley sing it. Which may be why you cnat locate it.
