It turns out I never got the queen, but i found some queen cells on an area of comb so I added some boards of bees from my stronger hives and so far they haven't ripped them open and they should hatch any day now. The homeowner also called me back and said there is a lot more of the hive left forty or so feet above the ground and flying hard this week. He rents a lift twice a year for his yard maintenance. If they are still alive, I'll get a second chance at them. Heres a few pics from the day of recovery, cold and damp and very windy.
