Pollen collection

Hello all!  I have a question reguarding pollen.  Bees collect it as a source of protien right?  The morethey have atthe end of the season the bestter they will generally bein the spring.  Do you use any type of supplement or other protein to help them out?  I was thinking of trying soya infant formula as it has a high sugar content, minerals, vitamins and high protein count.  Any thoughts on this?

I don't know how the infant formula would do. I'm only going into my second year beekeeping, so I certainly don't have the experience many on this forum have. But Mann Lake (www.mannlakeltd.com) has a product called Bee-Pro, on pages 30 + 31 in their catolog.

Personally I wouldn't use something made for humans in my hives unless there is substantial evidence thet it is advantageous for my bees health. I would be afraid the infant formula had something in it in small quantities that might hurt my bees.

I wouldn't think of feeding an infant honey or pollen.

I have gived pollen at spring over 10 years. This year I found substituent formula. I use 20%-30 %  pollen, and the same measure baker yeast and soya flour. Also I use 15 W electrical heater at the bottom.

Every hive had terrarium hearter during March to June. The result was more than good!

This article is the basis, but mere soya or yeast doest not work. Put over 20% pollen and it goes.
