Robo said it's because there are so many of us female-types showing up on the forum and the user name doesn't always reflect gender. I don't mind it, it is interesting to see how many more women are showing up becoming (or already) beekeepers. I can say there are quite a few in our local bee school, more than last year, I think, although the men still outnumber us.
