Got that "FLOOP"
« on: March 10, 2008, 10:06:43 AM »
I was in the bed all weekend and have started this week that way. As my granddaughter would say, I have the FLOOP. It went through my brothers family week before last and now my family. I took a flu shot this year but it is not effective for this strain.

Stay well, Steve

Steve, bummer, I wish you a speedy recovery, the FLOOP is a terrible thing and man does it get you down.  Remember to drink lots of liquids, especially one that has electrolytes in it like, Gatorade, or something.  The flu does ugly things to the insides of our bodies and we usually get the craps, (sorry, didn't mean to sound gross, but I couldn't say the other word here).  You need to keep hydrated and when you are getting rid of body contents probably as fast as they are coming in, well, what more will I say, wishing you well, and have a beautiful, still wonderful day, drink lots of drinks.  Cindi

The flu is going around my Pilates circle of buddies, thankfully I haven't succumbed yet.  I've been taking elderberry extract to try to buoy up my immune system - so far it seems to be working.

Feel better soon, Steve!

It's called Blockade from Newchapter.  It's a 100% herbal virus blocker and so far for me it seems to work very well.  The active ingredient is Sambucus nigra extract, 175 mg.  You let it dissolve under your tongue.  One a day, and as I said, two of my very good friends who I work out with all the time has had the full blown flu and I haven't had it yet.  Fingers crossed!

Ann, I have the red elderberry that grows wild at my place, a bee pal has the black elderberry, that is the one that is used for human therapy.  I am going to have to go to our organic store and get some of that stuff, I believe what you say and I believe also that it bolsters the immune system incredibly.  I also use echinacea tincture when I feel a symptom of a cold.  My colds don't generally get very bad, nor do I get them very often.  I had a bad bout of the the flu this past winter for about 4 days, and yep, I felt like crap.  Wish that I had known about elderberry, I did kind of, but just never thought about it.  Beautiful stuff, have a great and wonderful day, Cindi

I understand the Floop, I suffer from dropsy of the heart.  that's where when you sit down you don't have the heart to get up.

I never get that flu shot, the cynic in me says it's just another drug company making beaucoup bucks.  I know people every year who get the shot and still get the flu, and then you hear the lame excuse that the current strain wasn't included in the shot, blah, blah, blah.  Eat well, sleep enough, live well, keep your immune system up (as well as you can, of course) and you'll do fine through the flu season.

This was my first year ever to get a flu shot. I feel like you about them. Because I drive a school bus, my doctor insisted that I needed a flu shot. Did it do me any good? His answer to that question was " It probably would have been worse had I not gotten the shot". Good answer?

Never got a shot either. I don't know if I have ever had the flu or just a bad cold. What's the difference?

I read an article this year that the flu shot didn't really help because of the strain of the virus this year or something. Then it said people needed to get the shot any way.  :? Wonder who's making the bucks there?

If you dont know, you've never been flooped, just sick.
Viruses are always changing(just ask the bees) and it is impossible to make an exact vaccine for "this years" model. You can only make prior years vaccines. It does reduce chances of getting flooped and it should be used for those at risk. Yes companies are making money, but it is a "natural" medicine in that it triggers your own bodies defenses by making antibodies-natures cure. I am less skeptical of this medicine than other meds.

Knock on wood but this year I havn't even gotten a cold.  I drink my "smoothie" every day, take a multi, & silver solution. Don't take the whole dose, seemed like too much for me.  Echinacia if I feel "scritchy"  Have been on only organic veggies for about a year now.  Maybe I already caught all the virus's from running the daycare 8 years..so I'm immune to a lot?? :?

Supposedly if you got the flu shot you had were immunized using a virus similar (but not equal) to the one that you were infected with, theoretically giving your immune system a heads up that something similar was in the works.

In reality it was a bunch of hooey.  Maybe next years will be a lot better.

No "natural" or alternative medicines, not as much veggies as I should, not enough excersize and I've done fine this year, nothing so far.
I'm sure there is a bad case of the stomach flu (food poisoning???) around the corner, but boy, I sure hope not!!!

I don't think it helps on mutated bugs, I've had the floop 4 tiimes already this season, I think that's why I ended up with the Chinese Crud.

Brian, what the ding dong is Chinese crud?  It sounds ghastly, tell me about it.

I think I'm getting "Floop" at this moment.
I think the different between a cold and flu is that a cold works on you slower and the flu hits you in a matter of minutes!
              I have a "Netipot!"
You pour saline in one nose and it comes out the other nose!!!
This thing looks like a blue teapot!
Hmmm,....Dont know why i mentioned this.....
Anyways, its pretty coool!
I saw it on Oprah and Dr. Oz had a girl showing how it worked!
I had to get one just so i could say i know what one is and i use it!
If you have allergies, they're great! After I brush my teeth, i do the netipot, then i do honey and cinnamon!.

Ok,...you're right,...I need to make a movie of my daily routines!
your friend,
john

John, I have a netipot, wonderful little device and I really like to use it too.  Best of this great and wonderful day, Cindi

Cindi, are you turning blue yet?  I saw an episode on TV where a guy who drank colloidal silver had his skin and hair turn blue--but he was probably ODing on it.

Brian, oh, Chinese Crud.  I know about that.  It happened to me sometimes, and colloidal silver killed that stomach bacteria, I am not kidding, I was about to go to the doctor and thought to give it a chance, next day, right back to my normal self, hee, hee.

I am not turning blue, only take colloidal silver when necessary, it really has some magical powers.  I have many personal testaments to the power of this water, including curing my Daughter's pittbull of Parvo when he was a baby, puppies most often die from Parvo.  Excerpt from the site cited below:

The presence of colloidal silver near a virus, fungi, bacterium or any other single celled pathogen disables its oxygen-metabolism enzyme, its chemical lung, so to say. The pathogens suffocates and dies, and is cleared out of the body by the immune, lymphatic and elimination systems.

Check out this site, the facts of the skin turning grey is indeed caused from over abuse of the silver solution.

I make the colloidal silver water myself at home, for pennies a quart, it runs in the health food stores about $15-18 per quart, pretty sick.
