Fipronil and only if applied properly.

IMO a fast hive tool. i don't like putting poison or chemicals of ANY kind in the hive. they ALL affect the bees in some way.

Take a piece of regular cardboard rip the facing off exposing the waffles.
Place it on top of the top box frames with the waffle side down.
Go back in a few days later remove cardboard and look at all the SHB living in it.
Dump cardboard in a 5 gallon bucket with soap and water.
Kill SHB.
Also on linda's site is the SHB trap she uses it is also very good.

if you dont want to use poisons I have heard the west beetle trap and the cardboard like said above set on the top of the intercover works fine, when top is taken off remove cardboard and throw into soapy water, put a new piece of cardboard back in...... two traps at one time, what the west trap dont get the cardboard does.... Fipronil is used when other methods dont work good enough on bad infestation or continuous hive loses to bettles.
