Cold, sitting at -2 C. It is 5:30 A.M., the moon is high above in the sky, it is what I would call a three quarter moon.
The weather has been weird. Before and after the full moon, clear skies, cold and frozen, day before yesterday it rained all day, yesterday back to clear skies and cold, and today, cold, very icy because of the rain that fell and melted the snow. The rain fall was the weirdest part, it shouldn't have happened and then clearing up so suddenly. We have all had weird weather this year and so it is.
It is surprising even with a 3/4 moon how much light it sheds when it is high overhead. A few minutes ago I took a walk out to the back to see if the apiary was looking OK, beautiful. The moon was shining on the white boxes, glowing, it is a beautiful think how white reflects light and these colonies almost glow in the dark. Pretty. Very cold for us here. The hoses are frozen solid out to the chicken yards, so I have been hauling warm water from the cabin. That is a bit of a hardship, but that is OK, I keep a 25 foot hose in there so it is not so far to carry. The cabin is about 200 feet from the chicken yards, so I load up the water containers in the huge wheelbarrow I have and off I go.....to the wild blue yonder, the chickens adore me, I bring them warm water, bread pieces and they are happy girls. Have a beautiful and wonderful day, enjoy our life we're livin'. Cindi
