CCD only for "Big Timers"?
«

Am I correct to assume that CCD is mostly affecting the Pollinator bee keepers?. It seems to me that most of what i've read about CCD points in this direction. Also, an item of which I dont know about, is CCD affecting the package bee providers?. I mean, I've had captured swarms fly away but I cant call that CCD. Have any of us Small Timers lost any of our bees to CCD?
Yalls friend,

The general synopsis is that it is mainly affecting large scale commerical beekeepers who do migratory pollination. Most small and organic beekeepers have reported little or no loses that could be attributed to CCD. I know for me there were no problems.
Sincerely,
Brendhan

I suspect that it is just more noticable, and there for more reported, in bigger operations. Take cattle rustleing for example. You steal a cow from a large ranch and it may go un-noticed for weeks or maybe never noticed. Take a hundred and it gets attention quick.
A small farmer loses his only cow and he usually knows how it happened. Lose a hive and you see it die off or dwindle and you have all manner of reasons for it. You saw it happen over the weeks or months. Maybe even blame yourself.
The hobbiest gets another hive and starts again, while the big operator loses a big contract and a hunk of his income.
the attention you pay is based on what you lost.

Please don't assume anything in beekeeping.
I lost 7 out of 12 colonies last year and only 2 had the symptoms of being normal loss.
And I don't migrate.
