An article posted in the Gippsland Apiarist Association spring newsletter :-
QUEENSLAND BEEKEEPER MURDERED.
On the 12/06/07 Mr. Tony Knight, a beekeeper from Stanmore, was found murdered on his bush property.
Motive appears to be 40 drums of honey with an estimated value of $40,000 and 100 beehives. Mr Knight was the quarantine chairman for the QAA and regularly assisted the Queensland DPI with bee matters including the recently detected Asian honeybee incursion in Cairns.
Police have arrested a NSW beekeeper and charged him with theft and murder.

Yes, that reminds me of something that happened near my house this summer. When I was getting my bees, another guy was there too, he was an elderly guy and drove a truck that said, "Roy's Honey". We were both there at the same time and we left at around the same time, but a few weeks later, when we were watching the news, I saw the same truck. That immediately got my attention so I starting paying attention. Apperently he had been murdered, his body had been thrown in the bushes, but they couldn't tell a reason. He kept to himself so no one knew what was happening until he stopped checking his mail for a few days.
It's very sad, and to think that a few weeks ago I had been talking to him...
