I like doing cut-outs, but I love catching swarms!

What is that hideous creature in the last photo on the right, some kind of beetle?

Abejaruco, you still astound me with the close up pictures that you take. The orange flower impressed me in particular, I could see the pollen on the petals of the flower, the pictures were so clear.
Atropos. I recall you speaking of that insect in some other post quite some time ago. Guess it got in and couldn't get out eh? What is the apparatus on the front of the colony? I have not seen that before, it looks like it is used from some kind of entrance reducer?
Keep bringing us these beautiful pictures, I love to look at every one and marvel at the beauty. Have a wonderful and beautiful day in this great life. Cindi

The nocturnal monster is the Acherontia atropos

.
The apparatus is the entrance reducer to control the myriad of parasites that come to rob honey.
Really I am not worried on Acherontias or beetles, my bees have to propolize cracks here and there, and can tolerate any "politicos". My concern are the rats and relatives.

Abejaruco, I recall that post with great clarity. This moth is an amazing critter, the way that it mimics the piping of the queen bee. Nature, hmmmmm....lovin' it all. Have a wonderful and beautiful day in our life. Cindi
