Beekeep On!

WWW
« on: May 05, 2008, 09:12:44 AM »

Hi folks,

We just moved the forum to a new hosting provider (more to come on that in a few days).  The new server is in a different time zone than the old server, so you will most likely need to adjust your time offset.  You can do the following:

Profile -> Look & Layout Preferences -> Time Offset -> (auto detect)

You may also notice some strange URLs in your navigation bar (http://python.myserverplus.com........) for a few days as the name server change propagates.  This is nothing to worry about, just redirections.   It will be back to beemaster.com very shortly.

Just to ADD Rob ( and thanks for the upday ) that the server we are now running on belongs to www. Zunibee.com who has given us unlimited server space as a GIFT to our forum. That is an amazing contribution that will server everyone and our mission well for many years to come.

The least anyone who knows the cost and efforts of EVERYONE concerned is worth checking out www.zunibee.com and check out his amazing video collection and ever growing site.

The Quick Jump link at the bottom right-hand corner doesn't work right now.  The top navigation bar does, however.

The quick jump works okay for me ,but I have to log in everytime after I close my window. I have it set to keep me logged in forever.

Yep, I have to relog in every time, too, and I've got it set for forever.   I'm sure things will settle down once everything propagates.

So we are looking at 24-72 hours for the DNS change.
In the meantime we have some forwarding stuff taking place.
So how are the archives and databases doing?

I noticed a new spell check button.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

I like that spell checker! The first try a few buttons seemed missing but they showed up  Smiley

Everything should be all propagated in another 24 hours tops. Anyone wanting to NOT have resign in each time you close a session up - just open another window and surf from it, leaving the forum opened and it stays at that temporary wed addy.

You can do that by clicking file on the top of your browser, chose open and new window - the surf away, You should see a Beemaster Forum Tab there to toggle back and forth.

The databases where moved to the new server yesterday as well,  forum was viewable, but no posting was allowed for about an hour while the stuff was moved.  This way nothing was lost.  The bee course and other static stuff has been moved and re-organized (will still appear the same).  Since it is static,  it is currently viewable from either server.  Once the DNS settles down, everything will come from the new server.

Okay the DNS propagation appears to be nearly complete. I get the correct URL on main page and no need to enter user pass each time.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

Rob - DNS propagation is complete here in VA. Everything seems to working just fine.

I have to say that you did an outstanding job with this server change. I have been involved with and seen a number of large migrations like this and never have I seen a more well thought out plan with flawless execution. I'm impressed! Well done...

Konasdad

You live in one of those internet black holes. Where the ISP is slow to accept updates from the wet tables for DNS. You are probably another 24 hours out. I recommend you bitchslap your ISP and tell them that they are slow and lazy.

Then go to your browsers history and delete and clear the browser cache.

Sincerely,
Brendhan
